questions Gary Pink on 2019-08-21 16:15:11

Hi Is this paint suitable for the floor of our new Garden Room (outbuilding) which has a bare wooden floor at present ? Does the paint allow the wood to breathe (the building being insulated and heated when in use) ? Thanks

Rust-Oleum Chalky Finish Floor Paint should be fine for this application.

questions Anna on 2019-02-10 01:11:02

Is this paint non slip if it’s painted onto a concrete floor? Does the paint need a sealer put on top? Thank you

Rust-Oleum Chalky Finish Floor Paint has a matting agent in the form of tiny glass beads which will give a good degree of slip resistance in a normal domestic situation. It doesn’t need a clear top coat and we don’t recommend applying anything over the Rust-Oleum Chalky Finish Floor Paint.

questions Mike dickerson on 2018-08-08 08:31:00

Hi. Can I use chalky floor paint over vinyl tiles. Best regards Mike

No, Rust-Oleum Chalky Finish Floor Paint is for wood and concrete surfaces only.

questions Carla on 2018-01-25 10:12:24

Can you use the chalky floor paint on internal walls? Thanks

Yes, as long as the substrate is suitable for the Rust-Oleum Chalky Finish Floor Paint to be applied to.

Question: I have an ugly scratched bamboo bedroom floor. Could I use this product? Hope so as there seems to be no other product.

Rust-Oleum Chalky Finish Floor Paint will be worth a try. A bedroom floor is likely to be a low wear situation compared to other household rooms and therefore the paint should give a good level of performance.

The bamboo may have some kind of treatment on so a test would be advisable.
A light sand and a good wipe down to remove dust and any contamination would be the recommended preparation. Coat up a small test area and allow to cure for a few days then check the adhesion using some masking tape. If the paint peels off with the masking tape then more sanding will be required to remove surface treatments completely.

Question: I understand the paint is of minimal VOC, but is ventilation still necessary and if so how much/for how long please? My consideration is that we have a young child in the house. WE have 60m2 to paint. Thanks.

You can download the Material Safety Data Sheet from the 'DATASHEETS' tab on the product page. There are no known hazardous ingredients in the paint so it is safe to use in a general household environment provided normal safety precautions are followed. Good ventilation helps the paint to dry and disperses any odours from the paint. Keep children away during the painting process.

Question: I want to paint over old painted floorboards in the utility room which is used quite a lot (people in and out the back door), would Rust-Oleum Chalky Finish Floor Paint be up to the wear or can you recommend something else that has a matt/semi finish. Thank you.
Answer: Rust-Oleum Chalky Finish Floor Paint would be more than capable of dealing with this sort of environment and level of traffic.
questions Sarah  on 2016-04-16 13:02:48
Question: Rust-Oleum Chalky Finish Floor Paint Do you have to seal the floor after painting? I want to paint over wooden floor tiles in my kitchen and wasn't sure how hard wearing the finish would be. Kind regards, Sarah

The product is actually very hard wearing despite its name, more durable than some of our professional acrylic floor paints we offer. No clear lacquer is required.

The chalky finish floor paint can be washed down as normal, however in kitchen you may get splashes of fats and oils around the cooker, these should be wiped up promptly as they may affect the paint if left on for longer periods.

questions Joy on 2016-03-09 15:55:39

Can I use rustoleum chalky finish floor paint directly on old pine floorboards or do I need to prime, esp knots?

You don't need to prime the whole floor but you would need to seal the knots first. Zinsser B-I-N would be better than a knotting product, being white it will be easier to get good coverage with the floor paint over the treated areas.
