Rubio Monocoat Pre-Aging gives the look of a reactive stain, without the disadvantages.

A high-quality, non-reactive pre-treatment that creates the look of reactive stains, but without the drawbacks. Easy to apply on site without any overlaps, the hard parts of the wood and the sapwood are also coloured to get the most natural aged look possible.

Applicable to virtually all wood types, because the effect of the product is not dependent on the tannins content of the wood. This is unlike reactive stains, which can only be used on wood types containing tannins.

Available in 10 standard colours, The colour spectrum ranges from a lighter to a darker smoked look, with colours that can be mixed with each other to the variant the customer wants.

Tips & Tricks

Take into account that the basic colour, the grain structure and the porosity of the wood may affect the end result. A wood type with a red undertone, for example, will have a different effect than new, light-coloured pinewood. That is why it is important to apply a sample first.

Use of the correct tools: Rubio Monocoat Pads were thoroughly tested in combination with Rubio Monocoat products. The abrasiveness and absorption of pads of other brands may differ greatly, even if they are the same colour. This may lead to a less good to poor result.

This product is a pretreatment and does not protect the wood. It has to be combined with one of Rubio Monocoat's finishing products for maximum protection.
