Ensure the surface to be polished is sound and free from any surface contamination (eg. wax, grease, oil, powdery deposits etc.) by wiping with a cloth dampened with methylated spirit. Surfaces which have been previously wax polished must be degreased prior to sanding.
Ensure the product is thoroughly shaken prior to use. The product is applied using a 'rubber' which is made by wrapping a pad of cotton wool in a lint free cloth. Soak the rubber with polish, squeezing out any excess. Lubricate the rubber with a drop of linseed oil then work it over the entire surface of the wood in circular, overlapping loops. Refill and relubricate the rubber as it dries and go over the entire surface again. Allow to dry overnight.
Abrade any raised wood fibres with very fine grade sand paper, then apply more coats as required, allowing each coat to dry thoroughly. Lastly fill the rubber with polish thinned with methylated spirit, squeeze until nearly dry then go over the whole surface once more. When fully dry, burnish to a high gloss with a pad containing a little methylated spirit.
Maximum 10% methylated spirit.
For interior use only. Not recommended for areas subject to high wear and tear. Not resistant to heat or moisture.
Up to 14m² per litre per coat.
Touch dry in 15 - 30 minutes. Recoat after 1 hour. Drying times are based on an ambient temperature of 20°C and 50% relative humidity. Lower temperatures or higher humidity will prolong the drying and overcoating times.
Take extra care as application cloths and soiled cleaning rags may self ignite without warning. Lay cloths out flat in single layers to dry, or wash out thoroughly in warm soapy water before disposal. Remove as much product from application equipment as possible before washing with methylated spirit. Do not empty into drains or water courses. Some local authorities have special facilities for the disposal of waste coatings.
Store in a dry, safe place. Do not store in environments where extreme temperatures may occur. Keep within 5-30°C. Do not store in direct sunlight.
