Flowcrete Flowshield LXP HD

Flowshield LXP HD is a high-performance, three-component floor coating system designed for use on concrete, steel, and asphalt surfaces. The polyurethane-based system offers flexibility and abrasion resistance, making it ideal for areas subjected to heavy traffic and wear. It delivers a smooth, glossy finish that enhances the appearance of surfaces while providing robust protection.

Application and Mixing

The product comes as a full unit of Base A, Hardener B, and Filler C, which must be mixed in the specified ratio. Begin by mixing Hardener B into Base A thoroughly, then add Filler C to ensure a consistent blend. A slow-speed drill and helical spinner are recommended to avoid air entrainment during mixing. The product is ready to use within 45 minutes at a standard temperature of 20°C. Please note that higher temperatures will shorten the pot life.

Substrate and Surface Preparation

Flowshield LXP HD can be applied to various substrates, including concrete, steel, and asphalt. For best results, ensure that the substrate temperature is between 15°C and 25°C, and no less than 10°C. The substrate must also be dry and clean, with a temperature at least 3°C above the dew point to prevent condensation. The coating should not be applied when temperatures fall below 5°C within the first 24 hours after application.

Curing and Drying Times

At a temperature of 20°C, Flowshield LXP HD is tack-free within 6 hours, allowing for foot traffic within 24 hours. Full traffic loading is possible after 48 hours, and the coating is fully cured in 5 to 7 days. It’s important to avoid covering or washing the surface within the first 24 hours, as high humidity levels during curing can cause discolouration or blooming.

Important Considerations

• Do not freeze the product; it must be stored at temperatures between 5°C and 40°C.
• This product is not suitable for home DIY applications due to the safety precautions and training required.
• Avoid application in conditions where the substrate temperature is below the recommended levels or in high humidity.

Health and Safety

Flowshield LXP HD contains isocyanates, which may cause respiratory irritation and allergic reactions. The product is non-hazardous according to EC Regulation 1272/2008 but requires professional handling. The product does not meet the criteria for PBT or vPvB classification.
