Rust-Oleum 5090 Anti-Condensation Coating - White Hygienic Topcoat

The 5090 Anti-Condensation Coating is a single pack, water-based hygienic topcoat designed to prevent condensation and dripping in environments prone to discontinuous steam or water vapour formation. Ideal for use on ceilings and the upper parts of walls in breweries, kitchens, washrooms, and shower rooms, this coating offers a reliable solution for maintaining dry surfaces.

Application and Usage

This coating can be applied using airless spray, brush, or roller. For airless spray application, it is recommended to use pneumatic and electric airless equipment with a tip size of 0.018-0.024 inch and a fluid pressure of 130-200 bar. The product can also be applied by brush or roller, resulting in a textured finish when using 2-3 coats. It adheres well to slightly damp surfaces and should be used in environments where humidity and condensation are issues.

Recommended Surfaces

The 5090 Anti-Condensation Coating is ideal for use on concrete, brick, and previously coated surfaces. New concrete or brick surfaces should cure and dry for at least 30 days prior to application. It is important to remove grease, oil, and other surface contaminants by alkaline or high-pressure (steam) cleaning before application. Ensure previous coatings are humidity resistant and sand them to remove gloss and roughen the surface slightly.

Restrictions and Limitations

This product should not be applied in temperatures below 5°C or above 35°C, and the relative humidity should be below 85%. Avoid using air-atomised spray methods. Maximum dry film thickness per coat is 500 µm dry, which equals 1850 µm wet. Clean the surface only when completely dry, using cold water and liquid detergent with low pressure.
