James Clegg on 2023-05-02 15:19:36 | Question:
Hello Could this be applied with a gravity fed spray gun, if not do you have product that could be used with a spray gun? Many thanks! James |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
This product is for brush application or available in an aerosol form.
Martin on 2022-06-01 11:45:16 | Question:
Hi, I'd like to ask if it's ideal to use Rust-Oleum Hard Hat 2185/1085 Galva Zinc on metal subframe of a car and then what coat in black colour it would be the best for it, if the product says can be recoated with non-saponifiable coatings. Thank you. |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Rust-Oleum Hard Hat 2185/1085 Galva Zinc can be overpainted with Rust-Oleum Mathys Noxyde and Rust-Oleum Mathys Noxyde Peganox. While these could be used for this application, assuming the subframe is bare steel is clean, dry, sound and prepared as detailed in the technical data sheet we can recommend Rust-Oleum 569/580 QD Metal Primer followed by Rust-Oleum 7500 Alkythane. This is available in many RAL, NCS or BS colours in a satin or gloss finish.
Elina on 2022-01-18 09:38:53 | Question:
I need to make the surface of my sculpture rust resistant. It is a hammer-form made of annealed medium soft steel. Would this product work? Would it change the appearance of surface to matt? Could you suggest a more suitable product please? |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Yes this can be applied to mild steel, new steel or galvanised steel surfaces. We would recommend this is applied by brush application and it would have a grey matt finish. This is not a decorative paint it is a cold galvanising coating.
Fil Baker on 2019-10-20 22:32:52 | Question:
I want to spray a set of "winter wheels" for my car, grey being the chosen colour. High gloss isn't necessary (could it be lacquered-over?) but I'm looking for durability. Would you recommend it for this use? Thanks. |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Assuming the wheels are some for of alloy you would apply Rust-Oleum Hard Hat 2102 Adhesion Primer followed by Rust-Oleum Hard Hat Topcoat. Rust-Oleum Hard Hat 2500 Transparent Protection can be applied over this for extra durability.
Mike on 2017-07-14 18:21:36 | Question: Can i use this to paint 2 or 3 small galvanised steel sheets |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team: Yes, follow preparation and application instructions on the data sheet available to download from the 'DATASHEETS' tab on the product page.
fred williams on 2015-09-24 16:14:17 | Question: Can you weld through Rust-Oleum Hard Hat 2185/1085 Galva Zinc? |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team: Yes, it is physically possible to do this and then “dress” the welds as normal afterwards. But, Rust-Oleum Hard Hat 2185/1085 Galva Zinc has never been submitted for independent testing and so has no official weld certificate.
