I would like to paint the rough inside of my fibre glass garage door. As it is , it is a magnet for dust and grime … I would like to be able to wipe it clean . Which paint would you suggest?

Assuming the fibre glass door is clean, dry, sound and prepared as detailed in the technical data sheet this product would be suitable. The area should be sanded and degreased prior to application.

What sort of preparation is needed to paint UPVC plastic doors?

Assuming the doors are aged UPVC they must be cleaned and lightly abraded prior to application of two coats. We recommend Zinsser Allcoat Exterior Water based for this application when temperatures are above 8°C.

Can this be applied over previously woodstained external windows and doors? Thanks

Assuming the timber is of sound condition and preparation is undertaken as detailed in the Technical Data Sheet yes it can be used for previously wood stained windows and doors. If there is any mould and mildew, use Blackfriar Fungicidal Wash . Timber at risk from decay or insect attack should be treated with Blackfriar Exterior Wood Preservative Gold Star Clear. Very hard or glossy previously painted surfaces should be abraded and degreased prior to application.

In general we sort colours for products into 2 main groups - ‘Ready Mixed’ and ‘Tinted’.
Tinted colours will always be more expensive than Ready Mixed colours as they need to be produced at the time of order using a tinting machine dispensing colourant into a base*.
During busy periods, this means that tinted colours could take longer, for example – a ready mixed colour ordered on a 3-5 day delivery might arrive within 3 days, however a tinted colour might take the full 5 days to arrive.

To find Ready Mixed colours, search "ready mixed" or select the Ready Mixed 'colour chart'. To see Tinted colours select a colour chart such as RAL, BS, NCS, etc. or search for a colour/hue to see available or related options.

To ensure fair pricing, we split colours into ‘Price Bands’ to group together similar priced colours. If you wish to search for the cheapest tinted colours, always select Price Band 1.

Zinsser Allcoat Exterior Gloss (Solvent Based) - Ideal Solution For All Exterior Surfaces

This high-performance paint is specifically designed to resist mould and mildew, ensuring your surfaces look bright and beautiful for years to come. Its silicon alkyd formula provides unparalleled weather resistance, making it suitable for the toughest conditions.

Application

For the best results, ensure surfaces are clean, dry, and free of any contaminants. Remove all loose or peeling paint and chalky residue. Sand edges of any remaining paint film until smooth. New surfaces must be cured for at least 30 days before painting.

Surface Preparation: Abrade and degrease glossy surfaces. Prime new or bare surfaces with Zinsser Bulls Eye 123 or Zinsser Cover Stain as appropriate.
Painting: Apply two coats using a synthetic bristle brush, roller, or sprayer. For airless spraying, use a .017” tip and high-medium (2000-2500 PSI) pressure.
Conditions: Apply when air and surface temperatures are between 5°-32°C and humidity is less than 85%. Avoid direct sunlight and maintain a "wet edge" to prevent lapping.

Performance

Zinsser AllCoat Exterior Gloss (Solvent Based) ensures a durable and attractive finish. It dries to touch in 4 hours and is hard dry after 16 hours. Full adhesion and hardness develop in 7 days. Normal application is two coats, with an additional coat recommended for high-exposure areas such as sills and fascia boards.

Limitations and Recommendations

Do not apply if the temperature is likely to fall below 5°C during the drying time.

Zinsser AllCoat Exterior Gloss (Solvent Based) is not intended for application to exterior floors, decks, or any surface subject to water immersion or prolonged contact with water.

Cleanup

Clean application tools, spatters, and spills immediately with White Spirit. Follow equipment manufacturer’s directions to clean spray equipment, and remove dried product with White Spirit.
