    Description

Rust-Oleum Mathys Metal Cladding Primer - Rapid Drying, Anti-Corrosive

Rust-Oleum Mathys Metal Cladding Primer is a water-based, quick-drying primer designed for metal substrates such as bare or blasted steel, galvanized metal, and plastisol. It offers robust anti-corrosion protection and is ideal for light industrial environments. With its rapid curing time, it significantly reduces downtime, allowing subsequent coatings to be applied swiftly.

    Applications and Uses

    • Perfect for use on various metal substrates including zinc, aluminium, and steel protected by plastisol.
    • Effective on surfaces prepared through alkaline or high-pressure cleaning, and abrasive blasting.
    • Ensure thorough surface preparation for optimal results, including removing rust and old coatings.

    Benefits

    • Rapid curing allows for quick handling and recoat times, improving efficiency in industrial applications.
    • Low VOC content ensures a safer application environment and compliance with environmental standards.
    • Excellent adhesion and flexibility, ensuring long-lasting protection and durability of the coated surfaces.

    Application Methods

Metal Cladding Primer can be applied using a brush, roller, or spray. For best results, use the following methods:

    • Brush: Dilute sparingly with water if necessary, and use brushes with a mix of synthetic/natural bristles.
    • Roller: Use medium nap, 8-12 mm, woven acrylic or polyester rollers. Multiple coats may be required to achieve the recommended film thickness.
    • Airless Spray: Use pneumatic and electric airless equipment with a tip size of 0.015-0.018 inches and fluid pressure of 150-225 bar.

    Limitations and Safety

    • Not suitable for use on plastic surfaces.
    • Do not apply in temperatures below 10°C or above 35°C, or in high humidity conditions.
    • Ensure adequate ventilation during application and drying.
    • Avoid release to the environment and follow all local regulations for disposal.

    Complementary Products

For enhanced protection and finish, we recommend overcoating Metal Cladding Primer with Rust-Oleum Metal Cladding Topcoat. This combination ensures superior durability and aesthetic appeal.

    Health and Safety

Always refer to the downloadable data sheet for comprehensive safety information. The product contains ingredients such as trizinc bis(orthophosphate) and zinc oxide, which are hazardous to aquatic life. Proper protective equipment should be used during application.
