Hypakolor is a professional-grade coating developed for use on rubber and flexible substrates. It chemically bonds with the surface to reinforce and protect, delivering a finish that resists cracking, peeling or flaking when applied correctly. It is ideal for automotive, industrial, and specialist applications where flexibility and durability are essential.
Applications and Compatible Substrates
This product is suitable for use on rubber seals, gaskets, flexible automotive trim, cable sheaths, industrial parts and soft plastics. It is applied using HVLP spray systems and is compatible with pressure-fed setups. Hypakolor is best suited for professional spraying environments and should not be used on food contact surfaces or in areas where excessive heat exposure is expected.
Performance and Film Characteristics
Once applied, the dry film achieves a typical thickness of 20–30 microns, depending on the colour. The coating provides a gloss level of 50 ± 5% at 60°, and has excellent adhesion and resistance to environmental stress. Full curing can be achieved in 24 hours at ambient temperature or accelerated through oven curing for 50 minutes at 50°C.
Application Guidance
Use an HVLP cup gun such as the DeVilbiss JGHV 522-1 with a 1.0 mm tip. Apply in thin, even coats allowing 10–15 minutes flash-off between each layer. No thinning or reduction is required. Ensure adequate ventilation and clean equipment thoroughly with suitable gun cleaning solvents between uses.
Limitations and Safety Advice
Do not apply near open flames or heat sources. Do not expose containers to direct sunlight or store above 50°C. Hypakolor is a flammable liquid and must only be handled by trained professionals wearing appropriate PPE. Avoid use on surfaces exposed to direct food contact. Always refer to the downloadable technical data sheet for full application instructions.
Health and Safety
This product is classified as flammable and harmful. Contains solvents such as Butanone, Ethyl Acetate and Xylene. May cause serious eye irritation and allergic skin reactions. UN No. 1263.
