    Description

Rust-Oleum 9100 High Solids Epoxy - Highly Resistant Metal Epoxy

Rust-Oleum 9100 High Performance Epoxy is a versatile two-component epoxy mastic designed for direct-to-metal (DTM) applications. This high-build coating offers superior resistance to solvents, chemicals, abrasion, and impact, making it an excellent choice for professional projects. It provides long-lasting protection with a convenient 1:1 mixing ratio, eliminating the need for precise measuring.

    Applications

This epoxy mastic is ideal for a variety of substrates, including:

    • Metal: Bare or blasted metal, pre-painted metal surfaces.
    • Concrete: New or old concrete, pre-painted floors, and walkways.

It's suitable for environments with high humidity, frequent chemical spills, and rigorous cleaning processes. For best results, the base colour and activator should be ordered separately.

    Activator Options

The 9100 System offers multiple activator options to cater to specific application needs:

    • Standard Activator: Suitable for air and surface temperatures between 10-38°C.
    • Low-Temperature Activator: Ideal for conditions between 5-15°C.
    • Fast-Cure Activator: Provides quicker curing times, reducing downtime. Recoating can be done in 4 hours at 21°C and 50% RH.
    • Immersion Activator: Perfect for applications involving fresh or saltwater immersion on steel or concrete (not for use in potable water tanks).

    Why Choose Rust-Oleum 9100 Epoxy?

    • Direct-to-metal self-priming formula.
    • Superior long-term resistance to solvents, chemicals, abrasion, and impact.
    • Convenient mixing ratio ensures ease of use without the need for complex measurements.
    • Two-year rust-proof guarantee ensures maximum corrosion protection.

    Limitations

Avoid using the product in potable water tanks and ensure proper ventilation during application. Always refer to the downloadable data sheet for detailed information on application procedures and safety measures.

    Health and Safety

    • UN number: UN1263 (Base), UN2735 (Activator)
    • For detailed safety information, refer to the MSDS. The product contains Diisocyanates and other chemicals that can cause skin irritation, allergic reactions, and serious eye irritation. Ensure to use protective gear, including gloves and eye protection.

    Question:

Would this product be ok to protect steel within a highways salt store?

    Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:

Yes this product would be a suitable choice here.

However it is a very corrosive environment so we would definitely recommend either Rust-Oleum 9169 Epoxy Rust Primer or Rust-Oleum 9180 Epoxy Metal Primer is applied prior to application once the steel has been blast cleaned.

This will definitely provide for a longer service life
