Coo-Var Solar Reflective Paint Aluminium
Coo-Var Solar Reflecting Aluminium Paint is a bituminous-based solution designed to reduce heat absorption by reflecting sunlight. Its aluminium composition makes it ideal for roofs, helping to maintain cooler internal temperatures, whether used inside or outside. The reflective sheen provides long-lasting protection against sunlight-induced heat, making this product a trusted solution for commercial and domestic projects.
Recommended Uses
This product is specially formulated for stable roofing materials such as felt, concrete, wood, and brick. Whether you're addressing a domestic roof or an industrial site, this paint reduces solar heat load efficiently. It is especially effective in hot climates where solar reflection can lead to significant temperature reductions inside buildings.
Application Instructions
- Ensure surfaces are clean, dry, and free from contaminants before applying.
- Apply using a brush or roller; do not thin the product, as per manufacturer recommendations.
- Recoat after 12 hours; full hardness is achieved in 5-7 days at 20°C.
- Not suitable for unstable surfaces or areas prone to water pooling or continuous exposure to moisture.
- Always ensure adequate ventilation in confined spaces during and after application.
Additional Considerations
This product should not be used on surfaces that are not adequately stable, as the bituminous base may not adhere correctly. For the best results, always apply to well-prepared surfaces, and avoid application in high-humidity environments. As a flammable substance, it should be stored away from sources of heat or ignition, and only opened in well-ventilated areas. Do not breathe in the vapours, and always wear protective gear during application.

Eric on 2021-07-21 16:56:02 | Question:
Can I use this to overpaint a roof on which I have recently applied bulletproof mono? |

Assuming you are looking for a solar reflective paint, teh roof is clean, dry, sound and prepared as detailed in the Technical data sheet we can recommend Bullet Roof Mono Top in white.
David on 2021-03-17 13:29:44 | Question:
Can this paint be used to paint the top of the painted metal roof of a large storage/transport container to reduce the heat build up due to the sun? |

Jayne on 2018-06-25 21:59:01 | Question:
Hi, I have a dog grooming cabin....basically a wooden shed. It gets crazy hot in summer, despite open windows, doors and air cooler and fans! Do you think solar reflecting paint will help? its a sloped roof with felt Many thanks |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Yes, a solar reflective paint on the roof would definitely help reduce some heat build up. On bare, pitched felt Coo-Var Solar Reflective Paint Aluminium or Coo-Var Solar Reflective Paint White would be ideally suited.
Kit on 2017-10-09 17:50:50 | Question:
Can your aluminium reflective paint be applied over black jack? |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
This should be OK but we would recommend a test is carried out first to ensure adhesion, compatibility, etc.
