90 Mins - Internal Use

Intumescent paints and coatings are available for both internal and external application on structural steel, although some are designed and tested specifically for internal use only. These internal use only intumescent coatings will usually offer excellent cost benefits, and are generally suitable for horizontal and vertical girders, columns and hollow section steel members, for on-site application in heated, dry internal environments. Internal intumescent coatings may not be suitable for areas subject to high humidity, moisture content or other challenging conditions.

Locations that internal use intumescent paint for steel to provide passive fire protection to structural steelwork while maintaining architectural aesthetics for commercial infrastructure assets include Airports, leisure facilities, Commercial buildings, Retail complexes, etc.

This will include but is not limited to gaining clarification that the product in question can achieve the required fire protection for the steel sections and environment you have. These are to be used as a guide only as there will be instances where a product will be able to achieve 90min protection on certain steel section sizes but not others, or where it is suitable for external use in environments up to C4 but not C5-M for example.
