Tired uPVC windows and doors, painted with a previous owner's "personality", need not be replaced if they are still sound and functional - they can simply be painted over with your own choice of colours. Contrast or blend with the neighbours and other features on your property, such as guttering and fascia's, stamping your own style and character on exteriors.
Landlords can help convince renters to stay put for longer - research recently shows that tenants are opting for longer contracts rather than shorter-term, temporary accommodation. Touching up your plastic windows and doors with our uPVC paints may well help prevent the disruption of finding new tenants and is many times cheaper than replacing all of your uPVC!
With franchises on the rise, and changing dynamics on the high street, more retail units and kiosks require updated branding and refreshed colour schemes. Shop front spraying is a booming business as firms opt for the low maintenance of uPVC fascia's and signage instead of traditional wood and metal. There is simply no need for large-scale removals of shop fronts - or yearly painting with poor-quality coatings - for business owners. Much less disruption for staff and patrons alike with uPVC paints!

Can you paint uPVC windows and doors?
Can you paint uPVC window frames a different colour?
Can you change the colour of uPVC window frames?
How do you paint a uPVC front door?
Yes - so long as the plastic is not brand new, which is unlikely if you recently took possession of a home or business in 2021-onwards! Because of the manufacturing process it is much harder for paints to adhere correctly to brand new uPVC. It is crucial that you choose the correct paint if you are to avoid peeling, splitting and blistering.
Our uPVC paints will BOND to the substrate directly and provide UV resistance for many years, ensuring your plastic windows, doors, and other surfaces keep their colour long-term. uPVC paints and coatings have improved leaps and bounds in the past few years. They are now much more economical with excellent coverage rates, exceptional adhesion that often doesn't need a primer (presuming the surface has been suitably prepared), and a vastly expanded colour range. At Rawlins Paints we offer 4,000+ colours in our range of uPVC paints, including the popular Anthracite Grey.
What other uPVC/PVC surfaces can you paint?
Can you paint plastic and uPVC cladding?
Can you paint plastic cladding?
Can you paint plastic fascia and soffits?
What kind of paint do you use on plastic and PVC pipe?
Can you paint plastic and uPVC skirting boards?
Because our uPVC paints have excellent adhesion, it is now possible to colour-match other plastic surfaces on your building's exteriors. They can include pipework, downpipes and guttering, cladding, soffits and facia boards on domestic properties and business premises, all of which can become stained and marked from spillages, weathering, birds fouling from perching, etc.
Like uPVC windows and doors, these items also don't have to be replaced if they are still sound, just simply repainted with our professional and DIY uPVC paints and coatings. By matching or contrasting other exterior surfaces, businesses can really stand out from the crowd on a high street or retail park, whilst homeowners and landlords can blend residential properties in with their neighbours.
More garage doors are now made from uPVC due to their more durable qualities against UV light and weathering - no rusting or rotting.
As bikes and bicycles become more popular in our greener world, we receive more enquiries for painting plastic bike storage containers, too.
Before painting any uPVC/PVC or plastic surface, you must ensure that it is cleaned and prepared correctly so that the paint will bond with the surface, otherwise it will peel off once dry.
Can I paint plastic garden furniture?
Sitting outside in all weathers, it's no surprise that garden chairs and tables fade in constant sunlight and become pitted from weathering. You can lend a new lease of life to your garden furniture with our uPVC paints, restoring their original colours with our huge range of shades available, or treating yourself to something new.
Plastic garden fences and sheds are also the rage as they do not rust or rot, requiring much less maintenance, and can also be easily repainted if you're changing your garden around, or inherited them from a recent house move. Even children's playhouses, swings and slides made from uPVC, can be repainted and rejuvenated, rather than taken to the local recycling centre and replaced with expensive new play equipment. Better for the environment and the wallet!
Can you paint a uPVC conservatory?
Can you paint patio doors?
Conservatories burst onto the scene not long after white uPVC doors and windows became a staple of the British home. As long as the plastic is still sound and fit for purpose, then it can be repainted (inside and out, patio and French door included) to transform your sunroom and extend its life for more years and generations to use.
Can you paint composite doors?
What paint should I use to paint a composite door?
Though not intended to be painted, we stock uPVC paints (Technispray Kolorbond Aquatek) that can adhere to glass-reinforced plastic (GRP) composite doors, inside and out, providing the surface has been suitably cleaned and prepared beforehand. Aquatek has 2,400+ colours to choose from and can be brush, roller and spray applied, so plenty of choice for everyone!
Can you recoat and recolour faded or aged white uPVC window frames?
Yes, exterior surfaces which have been weathered can be washed down using warm water and diluted detergent followed by rinsing off with clean water – then proceed to prepare suitably with applicable degreasers and, if needed, primers, before painting.
Do you need to prime uPVC before painting?
How to prepare a uPVC door for painting?
Do you have to sand PVC before painting?
uPVC surfaces must ALWAYS be appropriately cleaned and prepared before painting - our recommended products have their own cleaners and pre-treatments to ensure the surface is dry, clean, and free of any debris such as mould or dust.
Can you paint over dark-coloured uPVC with light colours?
Can you change brown uPVC windows to white?
Using 2-3 coats of light-coloured, self-priming uPVC paints should cover original darker plastic surfaces.
Can I spray paint it? Or should I use a brush?
Whilst professional users will opt to spray uPVC paints for a quick and easy application, most of our products are also formulated for brush and roller use.
Some instances are better suited for brushes such as front doors, where you would rather not unscrew the hinges, allowing for tighter spots. Do be aware of over-brushing in areas, otherwise you may end up with a woodgrain effect.
Can I use the same paint on interiors?
Can you paint plastic uPVC skirting boards?
Yes - plenty of our uPVC paints are formulated for interior use as well as for exteriors - always read the listing and the data sheet before purchase or use.
How much does it cost to paint uPVC window frames?
How much to paint uPVC window frames?
Well, cheaper than it would to replace them with new uPVC! Our coatings are economical, mostly primer and topcoat in one, with excellent coverage rates, meaning you'll need much less product to get the job done, in half the time!
Can’t I just use a cheap paint/wood paint/emulsion?
We really wouldn't recommend it, no; unless you are a fan of cleaning it up after it peels off the surface, washing the uPVC down properly, and then re-painting with the correct coatings! Plenty of wasted time and money, especially for businesses and landlords with customers, staff, and tenants to bother.
