Keeping kitchen worktops in excellent condition with wood oil will help protect them from day-to-day activities. Spillages from drinks such as tea and coffee, sugary cola and juices can stain wood worktops and leave behind sticky residues. Bacteria spread from food preparation, such as chopping and slicing raw meats, can hide in the wood grain from surface cleaners, making your worktop a hazard. Anti-bacterial sprays and stain removers, such as white vinegar, may harm wooden worktops not sealed or protected with wood oils, drying them out over time and leading to splitting and greying. Wood oils, such as Osmo Worktop Oil, will help protect worktops from spillages and splatters of fats and grease during cooking.

Office desks benefit from regular oiling as they can become damaged from abrasion. Desk users, at home or the workplace, should always use something to lean on whilst writing to prevent ballpoint pens working their way through paper and onto the wood itself. Mouse mats should also be used for computer mice as their plastic or aluminium construction will damage wood desktops as they move pointers around on screen.

The kitchen table is often the hub of activity, breakfast, lunch, and dinner with the family. More workers are working from home these days and so the kitchen or dining room tabletop may also be used as a desk as well as to eat food from. If you’re a parent active in schooling, then your children may be doing their homework at the table under your watchful eye.

Children love arts and crafts, “helping” with cooking and baking, and the kitchen table is the best place for it. Plenty of space to store ingredients, and an area for them to mix doughs together. Keeping tabletops maintained with wood oil, as you can see, is important since the wide variety of uses can result in damage through writing tasks, thumping dough against the surface, or stamping out shapes with cookie cutters.

Wooden worktop and tabletop oil is ideal for those who love a thrify bargain, upcycling recycled furnishings from tired and worn wood destined for landfill into gleaming centrepieces. Refurbishing an old table, desk, or worktop with wood oil is easy to do and much cheaper than buying new furniture.
