Sherwin-Williams Firetex FX1003
Sherwin-Williams Firetex FX1003 is a single pack, thin film intumescent coating, designed for site application by airless spray, to provide fire resistance for up to 120 minutes on structural steel.
After appropriate drying, Firetex FX1003 specifications can be exposed to the weather for up to 6 months provided that the specific use does not lead to ponding water due to rainfall, condensation or other site circumstances.
Sherwin-Williams Firetex FX1003 can resist normal weather conditions for up to 6 months without topcoat provided it has had appropriate drying prior to exposure. Once an approved topcoat has been applied as appropriate to the prevailing conditions, then durability will be substantially enhanced. If the specific use or storage could lead to prolonged contact with water due to rainfall, condensation, or other site/transportation/storage circumstances, then a recommended topcoat must be used to prevent damage to the basecoat.

Can I spray an eggshell paint over the FX1003 as a internal decorative ceiling colour in an industrial unit where only smoke detection is required and no sprinklers? Thanks
Sherwin-Williams Firetex FX1003 should only be over coated with an approved Sherwin-Williams topcoat. Assuming an internal C1/C2 environment, as an example Sherwin-Williams Firetex M71V2 could be used over Sherwin-Williams Firetex FX1003 and provides a decorative sheen finish topcoat in almost any RAL or BS colour.

What are the coverages recommended to attain 30 minutes fire rating on structural steel for FX1003?
In order to answer this question we would need you to provide our technical team ([email protected]) with as much of the following information as possible;
Alternatively you can just forward us drawings, fabrication/cutting lists and we'll extract the information from them but in that instance we'd need some guidance as to what to allow for i.e. all steels on first floor, etc.
