It is important to use the correct primer for a suitably-prepared surface that protective and decorative topcoats will adhere to properly, especially on metals such as galvanised steel and stainless steel. When these metal surfaces are in cold environments, low-temperature curing properties must also be considered for the primer to dry correctly and to ensure correct adhesion for subsequent coatings.

Our low-temperature metal primers are designed for painting commercial, industrial and marine structures in low to sub-zero temperatures (5°C to -10°C). Suitable for steel, zinc, galvanising, stainless steel, aluminium and more:

  • Walk-in fridges and freezers
  • Cisterns
  • Building frameworks
  • Coastal atmospheres
  • Offshore environments
  • Refineries
  • Power plants
  • Mining equipment
  • Bridges
  • Steelwork and equipment in wood-processing and chemical industries (paper machines, conveyors, tubular bridges etc)
  • Ship interiors

As well as suitable products for most metal surfaces and usages, you can buy low-temperature metal primers at Rawlins Paints for industry-approved systems; use the sidebar filter to find products that suit:

  • NORSOK (surfaces exposed to marine conditions)
  • Network Rail
  • Highway Agency
  • MED certificate

The sidebar filter can also be used to find low-temperature products with attributes that suit your project requirements. Filter high solids, anti-corrosion, high build, appropriate drying times, and products containing zinc-phosphate.
