Can you stain cladding?

Absolutely! Whilst external wood and timber cladding can be left to grey naturally to a silver-grey colour, you can stain to 1,000's of colours at Rawlins Paints, from RAL, NCS, and British Standard shades to wood stain-effect colours. These change the look of wood cladding to help match your windows and doors, and help slow down weathering processes for years to come. What they won't do is hide the grain, so you still see the natural beauty of the wood through the stained colour.

How do you waterproof wooden cladding?

Our range of exterior wood stains will waterproof your cladding with a microporous, breathable finish which does not crack, peel or flake, and is resistant against algae, mould, mildew and fungal attack.

How do you treat exterior wood cladding?

Existing coatings should be removed, sanding the surface down and degreasing and cleaning to remove contaminants.

Preparation is key before staining wood, each of our exterior wood stain products for cladding have their own data sheets with the manufacturer's instructions for preparing the surface before staining.
