404S Epoxy Metal Primer is a two pack, high solids, epoxy, anticorrosive primer designed for the protection of steelwork, aluminium and galvanising.
Whilst optimum performance will only be achieved by applying to well-prepared substrates, 404S Epoxy Metal Primer will adhere well to minimally prepared surfaces. 404S Epoxy Metal Primer has a long overcoating window and provides excellent corrosion protection.

Coverage
1 litre of 404S Epoxy Metal Primer will be sufficient to treat 8-10m² of surface, achieving an overall dry film thickness of 80-100 microns
Surface Preparation
Steel/Galvanised Steel:
Any rust, mill scale and other contaminants should be removed by grit blasting to Swedish Standard Sa 2.5
Reduced levels of surface preparation, e.g. wire brushing to remove loose rust, are permissible, but may lead to lower performance levels
New galvanised steel or aluminium may be abraded and solvent wiped
Mixing:
Pour the contents of the curing agent container into the base container and thoroughly mix, preferably by mechanical means until a uniform colour is achieved
Mixing Ratio:
By Volume - 4 Base: 1 Curing Agent
Application
Apply the material by brush, roller or airless spray, at a nominal rate of 8-10m² per litre per coat
Cleaning
Clean equipment with 109 Tool Cleaner prior to curing of the coating
Curing
404S Epoxy Metal Primer will be touch dry following 4 hours cure @ 20ºC in conditions of good ventilation
Following 6 hours cure @ 20ºC the material may be re-coated
Allow 7 days cure @20ºC for optimum chemical resistance and mechanical properties
The primer may be allowed to age and weather for a maximum period of up to 3 months prior to top coating
Limitations
Do not apply to wet surfaces
Do not apply at temperatures of 5°C or less
Storage & Shelf Life
Store in dry conditions, out of direct sunlight, at temperatures between 10°C and 25°C
Avoid frost
404S Epoxy Metal Primer has a minimum shelf life of 12 months when stored in original, unopened containers in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions
