Kolorbond Vinylkote is a cross between a vinyl paint and a dye. It is the ideal product for refurbishing or changing the colour of vinyl and leather upholstery, uPVC and PVC, both in vehicles and on furniture. both in vehicles and on furniture. Vinylkote works in a unique and remarkable way. It actually penetrates the surface to the substrate, bonding itself to the molecules and changing the pigmentation. This means that, if applied correctly, it will not crack, peel or flake off. It is permanent and colour fast and because it is not simply a surface coating, even the grain of vinyl or leather is left intact and in perfect relief. Leather can be fed with hide food afterwards and will retain its familiar "leather" smell. Performance and guarantees not valid without purchase and use of VinylKleen & VinylPrep.
Vinylkote is used for:
- Classic Car restoration – seats, interiors, vinyl hoods and trim
- Vehicle Upholstery – refurbish, customise
- Commercial seating – restaurants, hotels, hospitals
- Leather and vinyl furniture and upholstery – re-colour
- Boat Seating – re-colour
- More uses include vinyl or leather car upholstery and door panels, vinyl roofs, dashboard trim, vinyl wheel trims, vinyl boot interiors, lorry curtains etc.
Avoid re-upholstering
Widely used for restoring older and classic car interiors to their former glory, Vinylkote avoids the need for re-upholstery, this allows the retention of original materials, saves time and, of course, expense.
Re-colour leather
As a way of re-colouring older leather, vinyl seating, furnishings, vinyl roofs, door panels, dashboards, boot interiors and other interior trims, Vinylkote is simple to apply and very effective. It is both durable and weather resistant.
Simple application
Application could not be simpler. Thoroughly clean the surface to be coated to remove any dirt, grease, polishes and lacquers. Apply Vinylkote by spray, in fine coats, until the required finish is obtained. Conventional spray equipment may be used or Vinylkote can be supplied in aerosol cans.
One litre of Vinylkote covers approximately 4 square metres.
Pre-clean products (Vinylkleen & Vinylprep) are also available to ensure that good adhesion is obtained. Vinylprep ensures that protective lacquers are removed prior to application.

Application Instructions
To allow Vinylkote to penetrate the substrate, it is important to apply it in "mist" coats. No attempt should be made to try and cover the article in one coat. Applying Vinylkote too thickly can result in solvent trapping which will leave the surface "tacky" for some time, and could prevent proper penetration.
Only 10 to 15 minutes need be allowed between mist coats if they have been applied correctly. The re-coloured item may be handled approximately 15 minutes later although full cure will take about 24 hours, dependent on temperature and conditions.
Thorough cleaning of the surface before applying Vinylkote. It is essential, to remove anything that may cause a barrier to the penetration.
Vinylkleen is a detergent based cleaner ideal for removing any grease, dirt or silicones from the surface.
In instances where the surface may previously have been painted or given a protective coating of lacquer (as is sometimes the case with the seats of convertible cars), Vinylprep should be used to remove this coating. A light application of Vinylprep will cause the surface of the vinyl to become "tacky." This is not normally a problem but is a good sign that when the Vinylkote is applied it will achieve good penetration.
Spraying Vinylkote
Using Vinylkote in one litre cans is an economical means of application, but it should be applied by spray gun as mentioned previously. Care should be taken to ensure that the gun is not held too closely to the surface. Apply in light mist coats
