Kolorbond K2, a two pack PU coating which can be applied directly onto a variety of substrates including metals, GRP, composite doors and hard plastics including PVCu (uPVC). It can be applied with all types of spraying equipment. For the brush grade version please see Kolorbond DecoPro. Guaranteed adhesion for 10 years, with 5 years guarantee on colour fastness - Performance and guarantees not valid without purchase and use of the hardener and the relevant cleaning products.
Please note: hardener in 6L and 30L packs supplied in the correct measured quantities to be mixed together in full to achieve the correct mixing ratio when combined (5 parts base to 1 part hardener). 1.25L pack size (1L Base + 0.25L Hardener) requires just 200ml of hardener into 1L of base, not the full tin.

Highly resistant to abrasion
Kolorbond K2 is based on two pack polyurethane/acrylic technology, making the finished coating highly resistant to abrasion, and other accidental damage. It is very durable, once dry, and easy to apply using any standard spray equipment, either on-site or in a manufacturing environment. For the brush grade version please see Kolorbond DecoPro.
Unique paint
A unique paint that acts as a durable, lightfast coating across a vast range of previously "un-paintable" substrates. Tested and demonstrated effectiveness in coating PVCu (uPVC), GRP, mill, polyester powder coated & anodised aluminium, stainless steel, hard plastics, cast iron and steel, light alloys, galvanised and phosphated steel, composite doors and even glass.
No primer required
In most applications, Kolorbond K2 does not require a primer and is able to be applied in a high film thickness. Most applications are possible in one stage saving substantial time compared to other coatings.
Performance and guarantees not valid without purchase and use of the hardener and relevant cleaning products
Mask the substrate, covering all surfaces which do not require painting.
Clean the substrate using Vinylkleen. This will remove all water soluble contaminants together with most oils.
Thoroughly clean the surface again using Windowprep on a clean white cloth which should be regularly turned.
Lightly abrade the surfaces to be painted with red Scotchbrite and remove debris. Uncoated metals must be abraded with a grit paper to remove any oxidation.
Check that the paint colour and gloss level are correct. Thoroughly stir the Kolorbond K2 paint making sure that any colourants on the base of the can are mixed in.
Stir in the required amount of K2 Hardener, 5:1 by volume (6L and 30L packs only; for 1.25L pack size, hardener is supplied in 250ml size but only 200ml is required). The paint will now have a maximum pot life of 2 hours. Only mix the amount of paint you can use in that time.
If spraying glass, add 10% G-pro Glass Additive (available under "Add ons" further above) and mix in thoroughly
Use a tack rag, if necessary, to remove any dust or swarf remaining on the surface of the substrate.
The sprayer must use a mask suitable for 2 pack paint. Skin must be protected by the use of gloves etc.
Spray the substrate with a dust coat followed by a medium coat.
Allow the first coat to flash off then apply a second coat. A third coat may be added if a dry finish of up to 90µ thickness is required. Any inclusions should be removed gently, with red Scotchbrite, between coats.
The paint will cure and harden overnight. The paint can still emit solvents after curing so leave as long as possible before applying protective tape.
Please note: K2 Retarder (C425 Retarder) may be added to Kolorbond K2 when spraying large areas subject to direct sunlight in extremely hot conditions to slow drying times - please see below:
K2 Retarder referenced on the Product Data Sheets forKolorbond K2 is also known as C425 Retarder
Generally, Kolorbond K2does notrequire retarding in the UK climate
The only exception to this is if the project requires the spraying oflarge areas in direct sun in the summer

Hello, Is this paint solvent soluble? I previously used this product and the colour was wrong not on your behalf the customers instead. I have since had to locally source the correct white which has been made up in a one pack coat (techno grip) Kind regards Mike
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
If the Kolorbond K2 Set has been allowed to fully cure then there should not be an issue with solvents affecting this. We would recommend contacting "Techno grip" for their advice on overcoating third party two pack products, an area to test for compatability may be required.
