Remmers Rofalin Acrylic is a weather protection paint on an acrylate base for wood and other substrates in outdoor areas.
Remmers Rofalin Acrylic is a weather protection paint on an acrylate base for wood and other substrates in outdoor areas. Remmers Rofalin Acrylic can be used indoors and outdoors on new and old wood. It is particularly suitable for renovating old, already coated surfaces and can also be used on render, masonry work, concrete, weathered fibrated cement, zinc roof gutters, zinc sheet metal and many other substrates.
When applied to chairs, banks, etc. an additional protective topcoat must be applied to prevent abrasion of pigments. Remmers Rofalin Acrylic is an environmentally friendly, protective paint on a pure acrylate base with lightfast pigments for wood and other substrates.
Rofalin Acrylic is easy to apply, protects the substrate for many years and is low solvent. The properly applied, elasticised coating does not peel even under extreme weather conditions and is driving rain tight, lightfast and weather resistant, fast drying, low odour, matt and scrub-proof pursuant to DIN 53778. Remmers Rofalin Acrylic also has very good hiding power. Sd value: 0.3 m with an application rate of 200 ml/m².

Hi, Im planning to redecorate an external timber fascia board and soffit. The timber has an old flaking paint on it. How do you recommend to prepare the timber before painting it with Rofalin Acrylic? |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Before coating previously painted timber all loose and flaking material must be removed and all areas sanded to provide a key. We would would recommend to test for compatibility and adhesion on a small area prior to full application.
![]() | Question:
I have a wooden outbuilding finished with the old oil based Butinox product which needs to be re-coated after many years' of excellent performance. What product (will this one?) will coat over the old finish and be durable, resist peeling? Everything seems to be acrylic based these days. Will a primer be required? |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Yes Rofalin Acrylic is the right product choice in principal. The only issue could be the condition of the existing substrate. Assuming it is reasonably sound, clean, dry, sanded and prepared as detailed in the technical data sheet it should be OK. Very damaged timber that has gone very grey can be an issue because none of these coatings like grey denatured timber particularly. Also if lose timber and coatings are not properly removed then the Rofalin or any other coating would end up becoming detached. Coating at this time of year creates a significant risk due to high humidity. Also the timber may have a high moisture content due to the ambient conditions at this time as well.
