    Description

    PPG Steelguard 2458 is a one-component, solvent-borne acrylic finish coat for SteelGuard intumescent coatings, such as SteelGuard 801, SteelGuard 802, among others. Available in 2,300+ colours, inc. RAL, BS, NCS & the new NCS 2050 colours.

    Substrate Temperature and Application Conditions

    • Substrate temperature during application and curing should be between 5°C (41°F) and 30°C (86°F)
    • Substrate temperature during application and curing should be at least 3°C (5°F) above dew point
    • Ambient temperature during application and curing should be between 5°C (41°F) and 30°C (86°F)
    • Relative humidity during application and curing should not exceed 85%
    • Previous coat must be sound, dry and free from any contamination

     

    Instructions for Use

    • Stir well before use
    • The temperature of the paint should preferably be above 15°C (59°F), otherwise extra thinner may be required to obtain application viscosity
    • Adding too much thinner results in reduced sag resistance and slower cure

    Recommended thinner: PPG Thinner 21-06

    Volume of thinner: 0 - 5%

    Nozzle orifice: Approx. 0.38 – 0.43 mm (0.015 – 0.017 in)

    Nozzle pressure: 20.0 MPa (approx. 200 bar; 2901 p.s.i.)
