The best oil for wood furniture

Traditional oils are great for use on interior wood furniture, such as Danish Oil, but we now provide wood oil products developed with superior durability, faster drying, and offering protection against the toughest conditions.

Lacq Rapid Oil 2C, for example, colours and protects interior wood surfaces with just one coat and allows surfaces to be used after just 24 hours. Great for businesses and services looking for a protective product that won’t disrupt trade.

And Osmo Polyx-Oil Original uniquely combines the advantages of natural oils and waxes in one product. Stain-resistant, water- repellent and abrasion-resistant, it results in a surface that is pleasant to the touch.

If you are looking for a particular colour, Rubio Monocoat Oil Plus 2C has 50+ shades to choose from, and works with almost all wood species.

Rehydrate old wood furniture – a good clean and sanding of the surface before application of a furniture oil can revitalise old wooden furniture and give it a new lease of life in the home. With upcycling and recycling gaining in popularity, neglected fittings and furnishings are being rescued from household waste and bought up from auctions, house clearances, and charity shops.

After spending years without maintenance or in storage without proper humidity and climate controls, wood oils will soak into the wood and nourish from within. Recycling is much cheaper than buying new – which you would have to treat with wood oil anyway – and allows you to put your own character into the furniture, with our large selection of coloured wood oils.

We are often asked about vegetable oils – “Can I use olive oil on wood furniture?” – and the honest answer is it depends on the results. Vegetable oils such as olive oil, rapeseed oil, etc, can become rancid, leave the surface tacky, and are better kept for cooking, in our opinion. We have many wood furniture oils to choose from, with an option for every budget, that it makes more sense to use a professional wood oil on your furniture. Some of our wood oils, such as Lacq Rapid Oil 2C, are based on vegetable oils, refined and tested to produce excellent results on interior wood furniture.
