    Features & Benefits

    • Available in more than 350 colours in RAL & BS
    • High performance single pack polyurethane alkyd floor coating
    • Economical, hard wearing, flexible floor coating
    • For interior concrete, wood or steel floors
    • Suitable for use in domestic and light commercial garages
    • Good chemical and excellent water resistance
    • Can be used with Bradite Low Slip Additive LS30 to provide additional under foot traction
    • Manufactured under the auspices of an ISO 9001:2008 quality & ISO 14001:2004 environmental management systems

    Preparation

    • For internal steel, wood, concrete and other absorbent mineral substrates which are dry, free of contamination, dust, efflorescence laitance and have been properly prepared and primed
    • Certain protected external floor surfaces may be suitable (well above local water table and/or an intact DPM barrier present)
    • Substrates should be dust free and completely dry before coating
    • When painting concrete it is vital to ensure that the substrate is completely dry and free of laitance. If the concrete is loose, chipping or has concrete dust present, the coating will not perform properly unless all loose material and dust is removed and damaged areas are repaired
    • Power floated, shiny or unpainted non porous concrete floors should be thoroughly vacuum blast cleaned to a roughness profile of 30-50 microns, or acid etched using Bradite Acid Etch TA37, or primed using Bradite Floor Primer ES40
    • High pressure water cleaning should be utilised to remove all loose and flaking paint and contamination back to a sound substrate. Bradite TD39 Industrial Degreaser should be used if necessary to remove all grease and oil
    • Intact areas of existing coatings should be roughened by abrasive manual or disc rubbing and feathered back to a sound coating edge. Cracks and pits should be filled using a suitable screed or mortar before painting

    Application

    • Application and use should always conform to the codes of practice described in BS 6150 and BS 5493
    • Applicable by brush, roller, conventional air spray and airless spray:
      • Brush and Roller - Supplied ready for use. Thin, if required, with 0 - 5% White Spirit
      • Conventional Air Spraying - Thin with 10 - 20% White Spirit as required, tip size - 2.0mm, tip pressure 60psi (0.4MPa) approximately
      • Airless Spraying - Thin with 0 - 15% White Spirit as required, tip size - 18 thou (0.46mm) approximately, tip pressure - 2100 psi (15MPa) approximately
    • For application on concrete, wood or other absorbent substrates, the first coat should be thinned 15-20% with White Spirit to allow penetration into the substrate
    • For maintenance painting the 1st coat will be a touch up to bare areas only
    • For additional underfoot traction, Bradite Low Slip Hard Aggregate LS30 should be added to the paint and mixed thoroughly just before use at a rate of 1 x 250ml LS30 tin (400g) per 5 litre of paint
    • Clean all equipment immediately after use with White Spirit for best results
    • While the floor will take light foot traffic after overnight drying, full cure may take 4 days at 20°C and should not be subject to heavy traffic for at least 48 hours

    Limitations

    • Not suitable for applying over asphalt, bitumen, epoxy tar, or vinyl based paints
    • Compatibility with existing coatings should be confirmed by preparing and painting a test patch
    • Suitable for use in domestic and light commercial garages. In the first seven days after application, vehicles should be left outside to allow tyres to cool down (especially after long journeys) to help prevent hot tyre pick up. Spills of petrol and diesel should be cleaned up as soon as possible to reduce the danger of slip and to prevent discolouration of the floor paint. Brake fluid is highly aggressive and will attack most floor paints on contact – use drip/capture pans when working on brake systems to prevent permanent damage to the floor paint finish

    questions meg white-thomson on 2021-10-01 10:38:14
    Question:

Hi. Can we put this paint straight on a Pro50 self levelling compound finish or do we need to put something else on it first? It is for a porch area in our house. Also can you get it in Matt not semi gloss?

    Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:

Thank you for your enquiry, however to get an answer to your question you must contact the manufacturer of the levelling screed that has been used.

They can then advise whether the product used is OK to overpainted and left as a final floor finish.

If they do advise that it can be overpainted, please ask what type of paint the recommend to be used.

They won’t necessarily recommend a specific product or brand, but they should be able to advise on the type of paint – i.e. single pack, two pack, water based, solvent based, polyurethane, epoxy, etc.

Once you have spoken to them and got their advice, assuming it can be overpainted if you would like to come back to us we can then advise on what product would be best to used based on the levelling screed manufacturers information.
