Surface Preparation
Previously Painted:
Surfaces must be clean, dry, sound and free of dirt, dust, grease, wax, wallcovering adhesive, soap residues, loose paint or other surface contamination.
Wash surfaces with Zinsser Universal Degreaser and Cleaner, rinse thoroughly and allow to dry. Ensure surface to be painted is completely dry with a moisture content of less than 16%. Remove all existing mould and mildew before painting using Zinsser Mould Killer and Remover.
Check for satisfactory paint adhesion by cutting an “X” with a razor blade in the old paint film. Apply cellophane tape firmly over the “X” and pull tape quickly away. If old paint releases, remove by scraping. Sand rough areas and remove dust.
Take special precautions during preparation of pre-1960 paint surfaces as they may contain harmful lead. Avoid the inhalation of dust. Wear a suitable face mask if dry sanding. Spot prime and fill all nail holes and gouges with a suitable filler.
Seal all stains with an appropriate stain killing primer-sealer, such as B-I-N or Bulls Eye 1-2-3 Primer-Sealer, before painting.
New/bare plaster: For optimum results seal first with Zinsser Gardz.

Recommendations for cleaning of AllClean Matt
Where possible, remove the stain promptly. In general, the shorter the dwell time of the stain on the surface, the easier it is to remove.
If treated promptly, most common stains e.g. dirt, ketchup, mustard, tea, coffee can be removed using a soft cloth and warm soapy water. Do not use scourers or abrasive cleaners as these may mark the paint finish.
