Description

Blackfriar Aluminium Paint provides long-lasting, heat resistant protection for interior and exterior surfaces. For use on metal and wood. Ideal for car wheels, gates, railings, cycles, models, pipework and decorations. Its reflective finish effectively reduces temperatures on areas such as storage tanks and caravan roofs.

Preparation

Ensure the surface to be painted is clean, dry, and free from grease, oils, wax or any other surface contamination. Remove any loose and flaking paint back to a firm feathered edge. Galvanised metal should be degreased and primed with Blackfriar Multi-Surface Primer.

Rusty metal should be wire-brushed to a clean, bright surface and primed immediately with Blackfriar Anti-Rust Metal Primer. New and bare surfaces should also be primed with an appropriate Blackfriar primer.

Application

Stir paint well using a broad stirrer before and during use. Blackfriar Aluminium Paint may be applied by brush or spray. Apply 1-2 coats, as required.

Thinning

Not recommended.

Limitations

Do not use under cold (less than 5°C), damp or humid conditions. Not suitable for direct application to galvanised metal, use Blackfriar Multi-Surface Primer first. Due to the bright metallic finish of this product, colour transfer may occur.

For painted items that may be handled apply a clear protective topcoat such as Blackfriar Polyurethane Varnish (interior) or Blackfriar Exterior Varnish (exterior).

NB: The varnish may produce a yellowing effect.

Drying Time

Touch dry in 2 - 4 hours. Recoat after 16 hours and within 3 days. Drying times are based on an ambient temperature of 20°C and 50% relative humidity. Lower temperatures or higher humidity will prolong the drying and overcoating times.

Clean Up

Remove as much product as possible from application equipment before washing with white spirit. Do not empty into drains or water courses. Some local authorities have special facilities for the disposal of waste coatings.

Storage

Store in a dry, safe place. Do not store in environments where extreme temperatures may occur. Keep within 5-30°C. Do not store in direct sunlight.
