Paint

Extend the life of your wood cladding by painting the surface with one of our cladding coatings. Paint will fill in holes and seal splinters in wood, helping to waterproof cladding from the elements such as erosion and UV degredation, and make it last much longer against rot and fungal attacks. Wood cladding is used on retail units such as coffee shops and takeaways, as well as offices and workshops, and with more people working from home these may include garden offices and creative spaces.

We stock a wide range of the best cladding paints from the most popular manufacturers, including Rust-Oleum, Wethertex, Zinsser, Osmo, Bradite, and Remmers. These include long-life protection for up to 12 years and huge colour ranges of up to 4,200 shades including RAL, NCS, and British Standard. Other benefits include fungal protection, outstanding adhesion to substrates, and fast drying - no more worrying about the weather.

What paint do you use on wooden cladding?

Whilst you can paint wooden cladding, the type of paint used depends on its location and environment.

Exterior wood cladding has to withstand adverse weather and climatic changes - heavy rain, frost, ice, hot sun, UV light, etc. The best outdoor cladding paints are those that let the surface breathe whilst preventing moisture in, reducing wood swelling and shrinkage, and hold their colour successfully without fading.

At Rawlins paints we have such exterior cladding coatings with huge colours ranges, from Zinsser, Osmo, Remmers, and Wethertex.

Can you paint old cladding?

For paint to properly protect outdoor wood cladding, the substrate itself must be sound and in good condition. Neglected exterior wood surfaces can be sanded and cracks and damage fixed with filler before painting, but if the wood is rotten or broken, it will need replacing rather than painting.

How do you paint outdoor cladding?

Preparation is always key to getting the finish your require. Each product has a data sheet with the manufacturer's instructions for preparing the surface with sanding, filling, cleaning, degreasing, and priming, if needed. Only then should you apply outdoor cladding paint; brush or roll with the grain, allowing time for the first coat to dry if a second is needed.

What do you paint pine cladding with?

Our cladding paints are suitable for all woods including oak, spruce, cedar, teak, and many more hardwoods and ingredient-rich species; Osmo recommends using WR Base Coat on pine cladding before applying Osmo Country Colour on top.
