Coo-Var Acrylic Floor Paint is easy to apply and leaves a semi-gloss finish, touch dries in under 2 hours and can be walked on after 6.

Preparation:

All surfaces should be clean, dry, sound and free from contaminants.

Concrete - power floated, granolithic and smooth surfaces should be roughened first to provide a good "key" for the paint. This can be done mechanically by abrading or blasting, or chemically, using Coo-Var Acid Etch. These processes will have the advantage in addition to preparing the surface of also removing dirt and laitance. New concrete must be allowed to cure thoroughly which can take up to 3 months.

Other surfaces have to be prepared and primed with the suitable primer for that substrate.

Existing painted surfaces - Surfaces should be cleaned, degreased and sanded to ensure an adequate "key" is produced. Remove all loose and flaking material and treat bare areas as new substrate and prepare accordingly.

Application:

As dictated by normal good painting practice. Do not apply if the temperature is likely to drop below 7°C during application or during the drying process. In confined spaces provide adequate ventilation during application and drying.

Apply direct to wood, Coo-Var Water Based All Metals Primer on Metal, Coo-Var Acrylic Floor Paint thinned 5% with clean water on all other unpainted surfaces.

Finish with 1 or 2 coats of Coo-Var Acrylic Floor Paint as required.

Questions

questions Leon Moisis on 09/08/2018
Question:

Hi I’m looking to buy your acrylic floor paint.. I’m about to sand down wooden flooring which has previously been painted, will your product also act as a primer as well as a top coat? Or would I need to prime first?

Answer:

Existing painted surfaces should be cleaned, degreased and sanded to ensure an adequate "key" is produced. Remove all loose and flaking material. Coo-Var Acrylic Floor Paint can be applied directly to wood without the need of a primer.

questions Michelle  on 09/11/2016
Question: Hi

The information on this product is unclear for application to sanded wooden floors and I'm hoping you can clarify. The tin says wood surfaces should be primed first, but also says the product thinned with 10% clean water can be used on porous surfaces as a primer and sealant. Is wood considered a porous surface? Or is another primer required?

Many thanks
Michelle
Answer:

Coo-Var Acrylic Floor Paint should be applied directly to prepared timber surfaces undiluted.
