Can this product be used on external cladding? Then painted over with Bedec barn paint?
No. Assuming BS Class 1/0 or EN Class B surface spread of flame is the level of fire protection required we would instead recommend Thermoguard Timbercoat BS Class 1/0 & EN Class B System which can be used externally and is available in a Matt or Eggshell finish in a vast range of colour choices. This would allow both the fire protection and the aesthetic appearance to be achieved without having to use any 'Barn Paint'.

If I was to apply this to a main front door of dwelling, will this meet building regulations guidance for fire resistance minimum of 30mins?
No, we would instead recommend reviewing details of the Envirograf Door Upgrade Varnish System.

Is this washable, how is it maintained if it gets grubby?
Envirograf QVFR Clear Fire Protection Coating is not washable as this is a water based product. If you already have this product on site then we would advise to apply a solvent based top coat over this such as Envirograf HW Superb Clear Top Coat to improve cleanability. If this is for a new specification then we would instead advise applying the following;

We are planning on painting some exposed wood rafters in the ceiling of our extension. These are new timbers with no coating. We plan on using the envirograf fire protection coating. Which finish (matt or satin) leaves the most natural looking finish? thanks marshall
Matt is usually prefered as a finish when trying to keep the timber looking as natural as possible.

hi, I have a garden table that I have already varnished. Will this product cover varnish I have already applied or will I need to re-varnish with one of your varnishes? Thank you in advance.
Envirograf QVFR Clear Fire Protection Coating is for interior use only and would not be able to withstand the wear and tear of a table top. If the table requires BS Class 1/0 / Euroclass B fire protection then the only thing we would recommend would be Zeroflame Fire Retardant Treatment. However this can only be applied to bare timber so any coatings would need to be stripped back to bare wood prior to application.

Can the base coat be over painted with a coloured normal timber paint and then the clear coat applied on top?
No, if you wish to paint an internal timber surface and then apply your own coloured paint we'd instead recommend something like Zeroflame Fire Retardant Paint which can be over-coated with waterbased latex paints.

Hi. Can this product be used on wood which has a wax finish? Thanks.
For waxed surfaces Envirograf recommend using Envirograf ES/VFR Primer first to ensure adhesion.

Good evening Can I ask would temp this is resistant too? I have put wooden skirts at the side of my logg burner so would like to know if this treatment would be sufficient. Many thanks Kind regards Kevin mccallion
This product is fire resistant and not heat resistant. If the coating becomes too hot (120°C) they will activate, aside from this they will scorch in the same way a standard coating would.

Hello, can I ask if the product Envirograf QVFR Clear Fire Protection Coating is available in a gloss finish? We have recently installed an oak mantel above our woodturner and ideally, we would like a gloss fire proof finish. Thank you for your help
Yes, you can choose your desired finish from the drop down menu available underneath where you choose the size of the product on the product page.
